Adblock
Okay okay, I know it's not a project per se, but hey, it's something that I've been working on that's been accumulating for some time. Anyway, here it is
right-click > save as: ads.txt (3k)
What the hell is this? Well, if you are using Firefox (if you aren't you should seriously get it now) you can take advantage of a nifty extension called Adblock.
Adblock basically filters out unwanted elements, primarily ads, at the source's address. It's easy, after you install it, whenenver you see an ad, right-click on it, tell adblock to remove it, and it's gone forever. It even supports the (*) wildcard character.
I have saved you most of the trouble of doing this manual clicking and filtering process by presenting my own personal sites blocked list.
1. Save ads.txt to a file.
2. From Firefox, go to Tools > Adblock > Preferences > Options > Import Filters. Select the saved file to import.
3. Hit "OK"
4. ...
5. Profit!
Please let me know (leave a comment) if you see anything on the list that seems legit and I will see if it should removed. Or, you can also shoot me some suggestions of sites that should be added to the filtered list.
Enjoy ad-free web browsing!
